Mika’s Daydreaming Theatre (2008)
In Ninagawa Fantasy Theater, Mika Ninagawa crafts a lushly stylized vision of masculinity, rendering Japanese celebrities, models, and idols as theatrical figures positioned in hyper-saturated scenes. Ninagawa’s subjects appear as actors in a campy dreamscape, where color and composition overtake individual identity, and the editorial image becomes both an object of spectacle and a critique of constructed personas.
